Things to keep in mind while Quran teaching

The Quran teaching is one of the very noble things to do. In fact, it is Sunnah because our prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) used to do it.
There are certain things about the Quran teaching, which one must keep in mind. In this article, these things are explained in the light of the Quranic verses. The Quran tutor must be able to convey these to his or her students.
  • In the initial Quran teaching sessions, the Quran tutor must be able to make the students learn to respect the Quran, the Quran recitation and other relevant things.
Al-Araf [7:204] And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and remain silent, that mercy may be shown to you.
Yunus [10:61] And you are not (engaged) in any affair, nor do you recite concerning it any portion of the Quran, nor do you do any work but We are witnesses over you when you enter into it, and there does not lie concealed from your Lord the weight of an atom in the earth or in the heaven, nor anything less than that nor greater, but it is in a clear book.
  • · The Quran teaching sessions must be able to convey about the importance f mediation on the Quranic verses.
An-Nisa [4:82] Do they not then meditate on the Quran? And if it were from any other than Allah, they would have found in it many a discrepancy.
  • During the Quran teaching, the teacher must convey to the students that the word of Quran is divine and final. There is no change possible in it.
Yunus [10:15] And when Our clear communications are recited to them, those who hope not for Our meeting say: Bring a Quran other than this or change it. Say: It does not beseem me that I should change it of myself; I follow naught but what is revealed to me; surely I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the punishment of a mighty day.
  • · Although anyone, who reads Quran immediately understands this. However, the Quran teaching session should also aim at telling the students that thelanguage and content of the Quran is the best possible language and content in the entire universe.
Yusuf [12:3] We narrate to you the best of narratives, by Our revealing to you this Quran, though before this you were certainly one of those who did not know.

  • The Quran teaching may or may not be primarily in the Arabic language. However, the teacher must be able to convey the purpose of the revelation of Quran in Arabic in the Quran teaching sessions.
Yusuf [12:2] Surely We have revealed it-- an Arabic Quran-- that you may understand.
  • The Quran teaching should also aim to convey to the students that the rewards for Quran recitation and Quran learning are immense and beyond human imagination.
Al-Isra [17:45] And when you recite the Quran, We place between you and those who do not believe in the hereafter a hidden barrier.
